Thurstan has significant experience in the international development sector, having been part of IMC Worldwide’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team, where he predominantly worked on climate change projects:

  • "Team Leader, Monitoring" in IMC Worldwide's £4.5m Compass project, providing Monitoring and Evaluation of the UK Government's International Climate Finance. Client: DFID, BEIS and Defra

  • Climate expert on Commercial Agriculture Portfolio Review. Client: DFID

  • Literature Reviewer: Conflict, Stability and Security Fund in West Africa. Client: FCO.

  • Literature Reviewer: SE Asia Low Carbon Economy Programme. Client: FCO.

  • Climate expert on climate/private sector/gender Evaluation and Learning activity in Tajikistan. Client: EBRD

  • VfM evaluation and Theory of Change mapping on HARISS, DFID's South Sudan Humanitarian Programme. Client: DFID

  • Evaluator on "Macro-evaluation of regional approaches on DFID Africa programmes". Client: DFID

Thurstan also worked on successful transport and disaster risk business development opportunities, has experience writing commercial bids and led an internal Value for Money working group.
